Start your first workout
- Choose pounds or kilograms and explore the guided tour. The sample history is labeled Demo data.
- Tap Start workout, choose muscle groups and exercises, then adjust your planned sets.
- Log weight and repetitions, or seconds for timed movements. Rest and workout-duration timers are optional.
- Finish and save your workout. Your completed session replaces the sample view and appears in History and Analytics.
What do the muscle colors mean?
Train shows your logged muscle history. Primary work starts at full color and secondary work at 35%; both fade over seven days. Chisel shows whichever current value is stronger. These colors aren’t measurements of activation, recovery, readiness, or injury risk.
Suggestions use primary training history. Once more than five different groups have primary work logged, Chisel suggests the group whose primary training was longest ago.
Where is my history?
Workouts are saved locally on your iPhone. Chisel has no account or app-provided cloud sync. If a workout is still active, resume it and finish saving before expecting it in completed history. Archived workouts are managed separately and don’t contribute to your current training summaries.
Don’t delete and reinstall the app as a first troubleshooting step: that can remove local history. Apple’s backup and restore settings control device backups.
Correct a set or change units
Open a completed workout in History to edit a saved set or its muscle assignments. Choose pounds or kilograms in Settings; changing display units preserves the original saved values.
Optional usage sharing
Usage sharing is off by default. You can change it in Settings. Turning it off stops new analytics delivery and clears unsent events. Read our privacy policy for the data involved and your choices.
Availability
Chisel is available for iPhone with iOS 26 or later. It is free, with no subscription or in-app purchases. App Store availability varies by country.
